Taking care of a facial prosthesis
Guy's Hospital Maxillofacial Prosthetics Unit, Academic centre for reconstructive science
These two brochures are designed to give patients all the information they might need in order to take care of their facial prosthesis : one for a prosthesis attached with implants, the other for an adhesive-retained prosthesis. Each brochure presents an illustrated, step-by-step approach on how to place, remove, clean and store a prosthesis.
The illustrations were created with a fine brush and ink to create a calm and clear visual language for patients. This is the same technique and look that was used for the anaplastology leaflets that the patients were given to understand the various steps of their prosthetic reconstruction.
This project was created with Dr Trevor Coward, Reader / Consultant in Maxillofacial & Craniofacial Rehabilitation for King’s College London Dental Institute.
